THE IDEA
“In business, change appears on a slide.
In life, it enters the body.

We describe change with words such as strategy, restructuring, integration and transformation. People experience it through very different words: identity, loyalty, fear, loss, belonging and hope.

Change Is Personal explores the distance between the official story and the lived one—and why nobody, including the leader, can manage change without being changed by it.

THE BOOK

Not a memoir.
Not a manual.

A nonlinear collection of stories, contradictions and hard-earned observations about the plans we make—and who we become when life refuses to follow them.

01

The official story

Strategy, structure, ownership and the plans that look convincing from the front of the room.

02

What change takes

The invisible balance sheet of identity, loyalty, control, grief and belonging.

03

Still becoming

Relationships, aging, uncertainty and the difficult privilege of beginning again.

“I will most probably
never be able to write a book.”
2026Change, apparently,
had other plans.

ABOUT

Gert
Van Erum

Belgian entrepreneur, company owner and Executive Chairman. For more than three decades, Gert has built and led technology businesses through growth, uncertainty and reinvention.

In 2018 he started G.Inspired and wrote that he would “most probably never be able to write a book.” Change, apparently, had other plans.

Change Is Personal brings the business story and the private one together—with honesty, curiosity and enough humour not to take any of it too seriously.
